Terrorism Essay English: Doing an act, which either physically or mentally disturbs the society and people at large, we can say to be a form of Terrorism. It creates fear among ordinary people like us.
It includes a person or group of people or ideologies spreading hatred or negativity and violence towards other people and creating or trying to create an imbalance in the society or country.

History of Terrorism:
The term Terrorism is painted by French Revolutionaries in the year 1790s. The period is known as the Reign of terror. Maximilien Robespierre was the head during whose reign such things started. He was in a belief that terrorizing people will bring the system on a better term. The killing of Jews by Nazi Germany during the Hitlers period was a prime example of terrorism. It was kind of their legal polity of terrorism.
Dictionary meaning of Terrorism:
According to Wikipedia: Etymologically, the word terror is derived from the Latin verb Tersere, which later becomes Terrace.
The latter form appears in European languages as early as the 12th century; its first known use in French is the word terrible in 1160. By 1356 the word terreur is in use. Terreur is the origin of the Middle English term terrour, which later becomes the modern word “terror”.
Types of Terrorism:
On the country situational basis Terrorism is of different types:
Civil disorder – A form of collective violence interfering with the peace, security, and normal functioning of the community.
Political terrorism – Violent criminal behavior designed primarily to generate fear in the community, or a substantial segment of it, for political purposes.
Non-Political terrorism – Terrorism that is not aimed at political purposes but which exhibits “conscious design to create and maintain a high degree of fear for coercive purposes, but the end is individual or collective gain rather than the achievement of a political objective”.
Limited political terrorism – Genuine political terrorism is characterized by a revolutionary approach; limited political terrorism refers to “acts of terrorism which are committed for ideological or political motives but which are not part of a concerted campaign to capture control of the state”.
Official or state terrorism – “referring to nations whose rule is based upon fear and oppression that reach similar to terrorism or such proportions”. It may be referred to as Structural Terrorism defined broadly as terrorist acts carried out by governments in pursuit of political objectives, often as part of their foreign policy.
Ecoterrorism/ Bioterrorism
If today human being is destroying the environment for their greed and harming the lives of millions with pollution and all short of environmental damages is also a kind of Eco-terrorism. Destroying energy sources and reducing nature and its beauty will going to cause heavy damage in the coming years to humanity. Hence we must think about this terrorism also at a serious and international level.
Causes of Terrorism
There are as such various causes and reasons for Terrorism to spread. Here are some of the most common causes:
- Political and boundary disputes
- Rapid population growth.
- Political, social and economical imbalances in the countries.
- Lack of Education and industrialization
- Religious Extremities.
So, the above causes are in a way reasons behind most of the terrorist activities happening all over the world. Hence to fulfill their deeds and an act of violence they need more and more weapons hence the large quantity of weaponry and guns, atomic bombs, etc. production increases. Both the victim and the Terrorists are now taking the security measure and hence buying more and more defense equipment.
The Effects Of Terrorism
It is the main cause of fear among the people. Syria is a country that has seen one of the biggest destruction of terrorism. People lost their home country, their loved ones. No food to eat and the whole country was like the old destroyed cement buildings. People fled the country and lived the life of refuge in other countries.
Not only people but animals and public property and most of governments revenue also got spent on defense activities, which either way could have been used for other developmental purposes.
The Attack on the World Trade center on September 11, 2001, on America is considered to be the biggest in the world so far by the terrorists. Osama bin Laden an accused who later got killed by US forces in a drone attack was the mastermind behind the attack.
The attack not only affects or changes the scenarios in the US but the whole world’s political dynamics and way to approach terrorism got changed.
Terrorist Attacks in India:
Many countries are affected by terrorism. But if I want to say which country has seen more burnt of terrorism then I would certainly name India on the top list.
Almost every year and every month so many people and security personals lose their life because of inter-border terrorist activities by Pakistan. Many People say that state-sponsored terrorist is their biggest polity of spreading violence in India.

The recent ones include 2011 – Mumbai Bombing, Delhi Bombing, 2012 – Pune Bombing, 2013 – Hyderabad Blasts, Srinagar Attack, Bodh Gaya Bombings, Patna Bombings, 2014 – Chhattisgarh Attack, Jharkhand Blast, Chennai Train Bombing, Assam Violence, Church Street Bomb Blast, Bangalore, 2015 – Jammu Attack, Gurdaspur Attack, Pathankot Attack, 2016 – Uri Attack, Baramulla Attack, 2017 Bhopal Ujjain Passenger Train Bombing, Amarnath Yatra Attack, 2018 Sukma Attack, 2019- Pulwama attack.
Agencies fighting Terrorism in India
Some many agencies and policies are now implemented in India to curb Terrorist activities. Some among them are like Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), National Investigation Agency (NIA).

Terror has no religion but it must be controlled from its ground or root level. The hatred created in the minds of people for each other is what slowly leads to terror. Hence good education and proper guidance and a healthy educated society are what will help to curb this act of cowardice. The people ultimately have to unite and stand against this only then this will be controlled.
